The sixth-generation Honda CR-V has only been on the market for about two years, so there aren’t many updates for the 2025 model year. In fact, I can say that the 2024 and 2025 Honda CR-V are essentially the same car.
However, there are a few differences worth noting, including:

Pricing & Trims
Both the 2024 and 2025 Honda CR-V offer six trim levels: LX, EX, Sport Hybrid, EX-L, Sport-L Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid.

As shown in the chart above, the 2025 CR-V has a slightly higher MSRP compared to the 2024 model. The most significant increase is for the CR-V LX and Sport Touring trims, which are $600 more expensive than the previous model year.

Exterior
The exterior of the Honda CR-V has remained unchanged since receiving a major update for the 2023 model year.
However, there haven’t been any complaints, as many believe the current design is still very modern and widely appreciated. Therefore, Honda has no reason to make changes.
One small change aspect for the 2025 CR-V is the paint color options. A new color has been added, and one has been replaced.
For the 2025 model year, Honda introduced Solar Silver Metallic, which replaces the Lunar Silver Metallic that had been available for several years. Solar Silver Metallic quickly became a popular and desirable choice, alongside other favorites like Urban Gray Pearl and Canyon River Blue Metallic.
Interior
Just like the exterior, the interior of the 2025 CR-V remains the same as the 2024 and even the 2023 model years. This isn’t a drawback, as the CR-V boasts a neat and practical interior design.
The 2-row CR-V seats up to five people, offering comfortable seating that drivers and passengers will appreciate in both rows. Headroom and legroom are generous in both rows, though the second row may lack the flexibility in the front seats.
Cargo space also remains unchanged, providing a spacious 39.3 cubic feet behind the second row.
Entertainment features include 7-inch and 9-inch screens, depending on the trim level. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard across all trim levels, and some trims support wireless connectivity for both.
Under The Hood
The Honda CR-V’s powertrain is likely the area that receives the fewest updates. For the past five years, the non-hybrid CR-V has been equipped with a single engine option: a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 190 horsepower. The hybrid model features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.
In 2020, Honda discontinued the non-turbo 2.4-liter four-cylinder 184 horsepower engine, making the 1.5-liter turbo the only option for the non-hybrid CR-V. On the other hand, the Hybrid CR-V is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 204 horsepower.
Despite limited updates, the CR-V’s engine delivers impressive performance. As a non-performance SUV, the CR-V is enjoyable to drive, with light steering and minimal body roll when cornering.

Regarding drivetrain options, the 2025 CR-V remains consistent with the previous model year, offering both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. AWD is available across all trim levels except for the Sport Touring Hybrid, which comes exclusively with all-wheel drive.
Which Should You Buy?
So, which model year should you buy: the 2025 or the 2024?
After discussing the updates on the 2025 Honda CR-V compared to the previous model year, it’s clear that the changes for the 2025 CR-V are minimal, if not nonexistent.
Since the differences between the 2024 and 2025 CR-V are so slight, choosing one over the other will likely depend on non-technical factors, such as available color options and which model is more affordable at purchase.
Typically, the older model year often comes with attractive discount promotions, and if you find an opportunity like this, you could make significant savings.
Even without promotional discounts, it’s worth noting that the starting MSRP of the 2025 CR-V is slightly higher than that of the 2024 model. From that alone, it’s clear that the 2024 model will generally be cheaper.
