Honda CR-V Cargo Length and Width (All Model Years)

The cargo area height varies by model, with a difference of only 1 to 2 inches.
I could not accurately confirm the cargo dimensions of the first- and second-generation CR-V because I could not find a vehicle to take direct measurements. However, according to my sources, the difference is only 1 to 3 inches compared to other generations.
Why does the cargo area dimension matter?
One of the most important reasons for knowing the cargo space’s exact length, width, and height is to determine if specific items will fit. This is especially crucial for transporting large or oddly shaped objects like furniture, appliances, or sporting equipment.
For example, I needed to load a sports mat a while back. Although the mat’s volume was no more than 30 cubic feet, its wide and elongated shape made the cubic feet measurement less useful. In this case, the length and width dimensions of the cargo space were far more important.
How to Increase Cargo Capacity
There are times when you need to carry a lot of cargo. Cargo space may not be enough, and you need additional space to fit more items. In such cases, some of these options could be the solution:
Utilize Roof Racks
A roof rack can be a practical solution when you need more space to transport items. Items such as kayaks and bicycles can be safely placed on the roof rack.
However, if you need a more secure storage area, a roof box is all you need. With a roof box, you can get up to 13 cubic feet of additional cargo space that can be locked securely without fear of getting wet in the rain.
Since the roof rack has weight limitations, ensure your items don’t exceed the recommended weight limit for the CR-V roof rack.
Utility Trailer
What if the goods you need to load can’t be put on the cargo area or roof? In that case, a utility trailer can be a solution.
Utility trailers can carry items that are not ideal for cargo space, such as machinery, agricultural goods, furniture, lumber, firewood, and so on.
The Honda CR-V can tow up to 1,500 lbs; you need to ensure the trailer’s combined weight and your items doesn’t exceed that limit.
